Legacy
Restoration of The Catlow Theatre, originally built in 1927, is slated to be complete in 2027, allowing us to celebrate its 100th anniversary. With modern updates, the theatre will welcome everyone in Barrington and the Northwest Suburbs.

Residents of Barrington share a strong connection to The Catlow, recognizing its significant architectural and communal value at the heart of our town. Over the years, our community has loyally supported various piecemeal efforts to preserve The Catlow, culminating in the Long family saving it from back taxes, flooding, and the threat of becoming a teardown. With the establishment of Catlow 1927 Foundation, a nonprofit organization under 501(c)(3) status, we now have the opportunity to undertake a restoration project that truly honors our theatre’s legacy. It is the goal of the Long family that Catlow 1927 Foundation attain full ownership of The Catlow Theatre before restoration is complete.
The mission of Catlow 1927 Foundation is to not only restore, but to preserve and maintain The Catlow Theatre indefinitely for generations to come. The Foundation will be responsible for the theatre’s management and programming, with all proceeds from performances, events, movie showings, and private rentals supporting operations.
We invite your involvement as we embark on this inspiring journey, fully aware of the lasting impact a restored Catlow Theatre will have on our community. Together, let us revitalize our downtown and cultivate excitement, culture, visibility, growth, and commerce in Barrington.
